AI Transformation Architect

Automized pulls the manual scaffolding out of mid-market contractors and PE-backed platforms — rekeying, spreadsheets, tribal knowledge — and replaces it with process and software that actually scale. We're hiring an AI Transformation Architect to own that fix end to end: diagnose how a business runs, redesign the processes quietly costing it, architect the vendor-agnostic stack it needs, and build it alongside our engineers. It's a role for a process person at heart who thinks in Lean and Six Sigma and reaches for AI as one of the sharpest tools in the kit — never the whole job. If you go find the waste, cut the steps that add nothing, and only then decide what to automate, this is the role.

About the Role

Mid-market contractors and PE-backed platforms rarely stall for lack of ambition. They stall because the work is held together by rekeying, spreadsheets, and tribal knowledge that no system captures. Automized is the firm they bring in to fix that — a process-first, vendor-agnostic digital operations consultancy that integrates the systems, data, and AI that decide whether an operation scales or drowns in manual work. You'll own that fix end to end: diagnose how a business actually runs, redesign the processes that are quietly costing it, architect the software stack that supports where it's headed, and stay on until the new way sticks. You design the solution and you build it, working next to our engineers rather than handing them a spec. This is a role for a process person at heart. You think in Lean and Six Sigma terms whether or not you carry the belt: you go find the waste, cut the steps that add nothing, and only then decide what to automate. You never pave a broken process. AI is one of the sharpest tools you carry, but the job is making the business measurably leaner by whatever combination of process change, better software, and automation the situation calls for. A typical engagement: a roofing platform has bought three companies in two years. Estimating lives in one system, accounting in another, and someone in ops retypes job data between them every morning. You'd spend the first few weeks tracing how the business truly runs — including the undocumented handoffs everyone quietly depends on — put a dollar figure on the manual effort, and rank the fixes by the return each one produces. Then you'd ship the top two: redesign the process, stand up the right software, wire in the automation, and coach the team until it's simply the way they work.

What You'll Do

Diagnose, Redesign, and Architect

  • Diagnose and quantify: Run operations audits across estimating, project ops, AP, and dispatch that surface what's really happening and what it costs, in hours and dollars — every finding becomes a number a CFO can act on
  • Redesign before you automate: Apply Lean and Six Sigma discipline to strip non-value-added steps first, so automation accelerates good process rather than cementing bad process
  • Architect the solution: Use a deep read of the client's processes and industry best practices to select and design a modern, vendor-agnostic software stack — one that fits the business and supports its growth instead of boxing it in
  • Build the business case: Frame each transformation bet as a measurable model with a baseline, a target, and a defined way to prove the result after go-live. If we can't measure it, we don't claim it

Build, Adopt, and Compound

  • Ship it with engineering: Prototype hands-on with frontier agentic tooling (Claude, Claude Code, low-code and automation platforms, and whatever ships next month), then partner with our engineers to harden it into production on our integration framework
  • Own adoption: Build a change management plan tailored to each client, in partnership with their leaders, and see the rollout through past launch — champions, training, documentation, and the follow-through that turns a new tool into standard practice
  • Compound the practice: Convert what you learn on each engagement into reusable playbooks and reference architectures the rest of the team draws on next time

What We're Looking For

  • A Lean / Six Sigma operator: You love the details of a process and are ruthless about efficiency. You find the waste and remove it with the right mix of process improvement and technology, always in that order
  • A solution architect's judgment: Deep command of business processes and industry best practices lets you choose and design software that's modern, right-sized, and built for the client's growth, not just the demo
  • A daily AI practitioner: You track new releases closely and, more to the point, work out how to apply them to make real work more efficient — first in your own environment and then for clients
  • A communicator who reads the room: You adjust register by audience, one way with the C-suite and another with an accounts payable clerk, and you carry credibility in both
  • A change management builder: You know the principles and can design tailored, leader-partnered strategies that drive adoption of new tools, software, technologies, and processes rather than hoping for it
  • A quantitative thinker: You convert modernization and transformation work into business cases that can be measured, tracked, and defended
  • A builder's bias: When something is being done by hand that shouldn't be, you fix it rather than filing it on a roadmap
  • The range to earn trust anywhere: You've put in 3+ years where the work was operations, process, product, or transformation — in consulting, an AI-native company, or an operations-heavy business that had to get lean to grow. You set your own agenda inside an engagement and drive to outcomes without being told the next step

Nice to Have

  • A formal Lean or Six Sigma credential (Green or Black Belt), or a track record that makes the belt beside the point
  • Time inside construction or field services and the systems that run them (Procore, Foundation, Acculynx, JobNimbus, and the like)
  • Exposure to how PE platforms integrate acquisitions and standardize operations across a portfolio
  • A background running cross-functional execution as a Chief of Staff, ops lead, or PM
  • Management consulting or service design experience, where getting from diagnosis to recommendation was the craft
  • A public point of view on applied AI: writing, talks, or projects
  • Enough data and systems fluency to reason about how information moves between platforms, even if you don't write the integration code
